1.Scapholunate dissociation results from the scapholunate ligament disruption/ injury with more important dorsal component, 3 mm thick (short, transversely oriented collagen fibers)/ volar component (1mm thick),intermediate component (fibrocartilage) meniscus shape 2. Scapholunate dissociation is the most common form of wrist instability, defined as “the loss of synchronous motion or normal alignment between the scaphoid and the lunate”. 1 The mechanism of injury is typically a fall with the wrist extended and in ulnar deviation. Rupture of the scapholunate ligament is the first event in any sequence of perilunar ligament ruptures. It is the most common pattern of wrist instability. Its characteristics are the dissociation of the scaphoid and the lunate, with flexion of the scaphoid, and extension of the lunate.

Scapholunate Dissociation Patients may complain of a tear or a “pop.” Long-standing cases may present with deformity and/or degenerative arthritis due to carpal instability. Clicking may be present with recurrent subluxation during motion.
